This is the
Death May Die
board/wargame's big figure -
Mighty Cthulhu.
He's actually a board for the scenario he goes with.
Yes, one scenario. But he's also a shelf decoration. And he's useful
if you need a big kaiju for another game.
No kidding, he is the board.
Well, most of the board. You can see the "gates" as the spaces around
the outside of him (vortexy mat optional, but kewel IMHO).
The scenario is the characters travel around the gates, achieving tasks
to get access to tMC. Then the characters have to split direct combat
and combat support roles on the gates in order to disrupt the waking of
tMC, leaving humanity safe for a thousand years or so ...
tMC has five locations - two feet, two hands, and the head.
At least one character has to defeat a foot and a hand to clear a path
too the head. Combat support roles keep minions from swarming tMC to
kill the character, and keep the portals from resetting your disruptions.
So Lizzy and her axe are doing pretty well to get to the hand from the foot,
and it was, in fact, mostly due to the combat support work being successful
(which includes a few of the other characters dying to make that happen).
So, she gets to the head (and combat support is severly depleted, so there
really is no practical do over for this attempt.
And she dies.
But she died while achieving the goal of disrupting the summoning, so in
cosmic horror terms, that's a win.
Remember, this is the game where the rules literally say that if there is
ambiguity on how to interpret game and scenario rules, do it in the way that
works out worse for the players.
