Fishmen!

OK, for those of you not in the know, that thing up there is a mon calamari alien from Star Wars. Yeah, really. Calamari. Hello, George Lucas? You just gonna call it in now?

That notwithstanding, its a pretty cool looking alien. Not too human, but not too alien, either. And it is made in ~28mm size for the Star Wars mini game You can even get singles at the regular places you buy second-hand minis like that. My faves are Strikezone Online and Miniature Market .

If you're buying singles, don't go for the tech specialist figure. it has some funky tech helmet thing one. Which would be fine for scifi alein fishmen, but not for ...

... scary modern civilians-turned-fishmen. Great for "contagion" games, as it is just as creepy, but a little different from your ROTM zeds. Obviously, also nice for Cthulesque gaming. And possibly, yet another being who can kick Aquaman's ass.

Nothing special on the conversion, just lopped the heads off and glued them on to some other civilian figures. It's hard to tell from the photo, but the one on the far left is a female in jeans and a t-shirt. It's kinda hard to tell up close, too. The head kind of overpowers the figure. Also the eyes. I went with no pupils, which is easily correctable if you don't like it. I do like them like that.

In general, underwater gaming is tough to set up. Good rules are not easy to come by, and (possibly as a result of that), neither are good underwater figures. It all gets a little painful. Fortunately, decapitating cheap plastic figures is a good Zen way to get back into the game!
